I’m looking to paint the hood of my truck to match the rest. The original paint code is Midnight Metallic Blue (Ford #5094-A) and is denoted by code “S” on the warranty plate. I was quoted over $500 to have the hood sprayed by Maaco so I’m looking to do it myself. I can’t seem to find any spray cans in that color. The closest I can find is for ‘80’s Ford trucks ( Code 3L - Duplicolor BFM0187) and I’m not sure if it’s close enough. Anyone have any leads on some paint for it?
Go Ask your local auto body paint SUPPLY house to match it, and there they can either mix it in a can to be mixed for a spray gun, or have them put in and aerosol can (rattle can) for you
You're going to have to take a painted part in to get a match that looks half decent . if you can match it off the code after all these years and looks like maybe a repaint go by a lottery ticket because it's your lucky day.
I know in a world of 1200$ smart phones 500 doesn't seem like much but I would check around with some autobody shops or vocational college. A friend and I took a night/Saturday class for 30$ years ago. He was able to paint and do body work, only had to pay for materials and the instructor worked as a painter during the day.
I took some Ford paint code color #'s to O'reilly's and they color matched it and put it in aerosol cans. Dupli-color was on the label. X2 on seeing if a local small auto body shop or votec can do it. Maybe the votec can do it for the material cost? Pg 2, S='s Bright Blue Dark Metallic 5094-C
Thanks for the help guys. I’ve tried shopping around but so far no one who would mix it for a decent price. I picked up some GM duplicator of a similar shade but it’s way too dark. I’m going to try a few more paint places.
