53 paint code “R”

I have been looking around and can’t seem to find the color name for paint code R. I have found a lot of other letters and even some numbers but mine says R. Could be the glovebox door is not original to the truck.

I've admired his truck ever since he posted pictures of it here! I don't covet it however, because the 10 commandments says we should not covet thy neighbor's truck!

So what is a good brand of paint to use that is easily obtainable? I like the “Majic” brand from tractor supply when I was painting my tractors (orange for Allis and red for Farmal). They had all the stuff. Paint, reducer, hardener. I am very happy with the results. It was nice getting it local so I could get more when needed without waiting.

Not sure what NAPA sells or if they even sell the meadow green.

Have an advanced auto nearby too.

My painter used Napa CrossFire base coat/clearcoat. They are able to mix it in any color you want.

I also used NAPA Cross fire line. . It is a Martin Senour paint and it worked well for me.

Here is the acrylic enamel my body man used on my 54 in 1998/99:

Here is the base/clear he used in 2016:

You have a 53. The Grille is Sunset Ivory, although no one here at FTE can find evidence of Sungate Ivory listed in any Ford literature for 1953. We have found it in literature for 1954 however and the 53 and 54 grilles are the same color. Here is the old paint can from 1998/99 used for my grille:

I don't know why the first picture of the 98/99 Meadow Green can was so small. Here it is again.

Today’s work. Interior removed. A few dents hammered out of the back of the cab and sanded ready for Bondo. Problem is Bondomsays mix at 75 degrees. It might get that warm during the summer. That’s 5 months away.

Before

After

Sorry it’s so dark

What do most people use to paint the floor of the tuck with? I was thinking maybe using truck Bedliner. It would be easy to wash out when dirty.
