2020 front shock replacement

2020 front shock replacement
I apologize in advance, as I know this topic has probably been brought up a few times before. I have a 2020 6.7 KR, replaced the rear shocks, about to do the fronts. Whats the small bracket on the top of the driver side shock thread, and how do I remove it? Worried if I start, I won't be able to finish. Any help on getting the fronts done would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Clint
