I can't remember if mine was worn like that. You can buy that outer plate for around $30 I believe, that would be half the worn parts and bring it back half so some spacer would be necessary. Otherwise, I believe it's then entire clutch.
I’d give that a shot before changing the whole clutch. I’m not sure there’s enough room if you pulled the radiator and stator off. I’m happy to have chance it might work for awhile anyway. My EATC said the outside temp was 106° When I fired the truck up this afternoon. I was melting by the time I got home! Not good times after a long day at work, but,,,,my fuel pressure was good so I got that going for me (Steve Martin reference).
Usually if you are going to replace the clutch, then might as well do the entire air compressor. But ..... you can't get Ford units anymore, so it has to be aftermarket.
Coil around $70, hub around $85, front plate around $20. So $175 investment (today) vs $285 for a complete compressor when they were available. It would have been a shame to invest in the front end cost to have the compressor go bad in a year.
The compressor I had in my cart for months, unfortunately.
That's quite a bit more than I paid back when I did it. I bought from Ford Parts Giant. Definitely higher at ANWBL!
FYI - I am not arguing .....just trying to understand your cost (and maybe all this can help save someone some money).
As you know I'm sure, Ford Parts Giant is not a Ford dealer, they are a reseller from their Ford dealer connections. Sometimes when you order things, you get a note not available, but it is because their pricing was wrong.
All I can say is I got the pricing and parts I posted. The pulley bearing by itself (not available from Ford) saves a bunch (the pulley was the main difference in the price I was looking at). I am usually a "Dealership Only" person, but went this route on these parts for some reason, parts are working fine at this point (and so is the original compressor thankfully - I also wish I had bought an OEM compressor way back when .. based on them not being available now .. but oh, well). Thanks for posting the links to the part numbers (glad they match mine - I was unsure).
Well,,, it worked. The A/C stayed on constantly with no drop outs but it didn’t seem quite as cold as it used to be. Maybe it’s just me, it was really hot today. I’ll evaluate further for a few days but I’m pretty positive it didn’t get as cold. Could that be related to the clutch issue like slipping a little all the time but not stopping? Maybe now the blend door isn’t working right. Just odd timing for another issue with the system.

Keep an eye on your FSS. I found out my fan wasn't working by accident after giving my engine a bath. P0528 showed up but has never reappeared and the harness is fine, however, the fan spins very easily by hand and drops to 160 rpms going down the highway at 55mph. And my AC was being ignorant.
Put a clutch cover on it. No luck. It cycles the compressor solidly with a good “click” but it comes in/out quickly, maybe 4-5sec on 8-10 off. Lowest air temp at the vent is 68°f. My neighbor had a can of Freon with a gauge, we didn’t put any in it as the low side pressure comes up to just over 50psi when the compressor comes on. and drops quickly when it goes off. It had been in the garage overnight and wasn’t hot or even fully up to temp and it left a pretty good puddle of condensate water on the floor. Thats all a little confusing. Looks like it’s going to the shop
