Diff Oil Recommendations

Looking for diff oil recommendations? I know there is a lot of synthetic oils out now, what weight is recommend for our trucks? I have dana 60's front and back?

Also, what is everyone using to de-grease the covers for painting?

80-90 of your choice. I don't use synthetics much because they're a great leak promoter but they're good if you don't mind it. if you have trac lock add a friction modifier .

I use a wire brush on the grinder then bead blast the covers while they're off to clean them. but if you don't have those things any degreaser works better than nothing.

X2 on 89/90 gear lube. X2 wire brush and spray brake cleaner works pretty good.

GL-5 80W-90 a syn GL-5 75W-140 will work best if your truck is going to see severe service.

For the valve covers: Mine did not have any heavy deposits, so I washed them in diesel, wiped them down with some mineral spirits, straightened any distortions, then painted them with some gloss oil based paint.
