I think it was a Texan's belt buckle that scratched it up, well anyway somebody spending alot of time under the hood. I got the grille from a junk yard that way. Since it wasn't on my pickup I an pretty sure it wasn't that 1/2 inch grade 8 bolt I have my belly pierced with. lol, actually it would take one about a foot long.

But back to the grille, what do you do after it is clean since the factort coating will be gone? I straightened out a headlight bucket for my 72 once and got it all sanded smooth but never got it to look right since the bare metal had a different look than the original. I did clearcoat it for protection but the repair stuck out like a sore thumb.

HMMMMM.........I think I will go with the 67-69 myself. But I really think the 69 looks better than all of them. Nothing like that new shiney chrome grill with that red strip and ranger emblem to me.

I like the '70 checkered one best, but that '67-'69 chrome grille is pretty cool. If I had time I'd fake a '69 by going up to the junkyard and nabbing one of the *few* they have up there. Come to think of it, mine WAS built in 1969... hmm

I like the one on my 72. Its different and looks cool to me all blacked out.
For the classic or muscle truck look the chrome or painted 69 grill cant be beat.

I have never owned a 69 Ranger but a nice one of those is hard to beat for looks. My ideal grille would be to take a painted one and have it chromed since they are way tougher. I like my 72 but I see the 70 as the tip of the iceburg in turning pickups from metal to plastic and the egg crate is my least favorite of the plastic grilles.

OK here is another question. Is there an easy way to get that chrome off the 71(72?) Ranger grille inserts so you can get at the screws that hold it in?

I have a 70 , but I like the 71 best.
Should have made the poll have a 71 and 72, not both togather.

I like the 69 with or without the Ranger emblem. Just looks real good. I do not like the 71 and 72 grill.

I think that people shouldn't switch grilles from truck to truck. It confuses me when I try and figure out the years! '67 "bright's" are nice.

hehe- i have a 68 bright on my 72. 71 and 72 were so close, i lumped them together. In 70, it they had the checker inserts, in 71 there were 6 rectangles, and 72 there were 4. I wish 's site was up.

I meant when people put different grilles on their trucks and I say "oh thats a 68 when really it's a 71" because of the wrong grille or something, lol. I'm up to spec on my grille knowledge because of s convenient site.

I still think that the looks on the 71 and 72 are way different.
The 71 looks the best and was at its peek for grill design. Looks mean. Didn't they copy that grill design throughout the 72-79 models. Must have been damn good!

i have a 72 and my grill was that plastic with the "chrome" on it. I thought mine looked alot better flat black with my flat black bumper. the rebel flag tag added a nice touch.

Plane Jane 67-69 for me. Not that that looks better on all trucks, but, I like the durable looks of that plane jane grill.
