Mine's just going to have the 'ol plain jane white grille in it (it's arrow straight) you just can't find the aluminum ones that aren't dinged up, that adonized aluminum can't withstand much of a lick! Anyway, mine's gonna be just a plain jane, no chrome or anything, but it will run like a scalded **** ape!!
For looks the 67-69 Ranger. For tuff the painted ones. I love my 72 but the grille surround and headlanp rims bend to easy, and the coaying on the aluminum gets foggy.
Dunno. Depends on the truck...A chromy street machine?...The red stripe ranger grilles...But on many of the plain jane trucks, I think the white grilles actually look better, being there is no chrome elsewhere. Also, to me, the white grille's make the trucks look older and more "classic" like a 50's model. ?? Just as long as the grille is straight... Thats the main thing. I can't stand a crooked grille. Crooked anything for that matter.. Grates on my nerves after a while. I have this certain retentive side to me...Pat67's is a good example of a straight grille. Mine is pretty straight as you can see in the avatar. Mine is pushed in a tiny bit on the drivers side, but it's so slight it's hardly noticable. I could easily fix it, if I removed the grille and pushed it out a bit. It's hardly noticable though, so I haven't bothered. I will when I repaint the truck. MK
You guys are gonna hate me! I found a 69 ranger that had had an electrical fire after a shade tree mechanic repaced the alternator. The guy goes out to fix it 4 days later, and the carb is gone, so he parks it. And I get the grill for my old beat up 72 grill, an old ford carb, and $25!!! I have zero use for the old grill or carb, so I am getting a *perfect* 69 ranger grill WITH headlight doors!! I also saw a 68 or so 650 dump truck with a perfect aluminum grill. Ill bet thats worth a pretty penny. NM5K is right about pats truck- the pained grill looks really good on a chrome free truck like his.
Does any one know how to get the grille surround and headlight doors to shine again. I have a straight one for a 72 but it is dull and has some belly button scratched on it. I know there are restoration places but I was hping some of you might have a home remedy. Thanks
I like the look of my painted Grille, but would prefer the "No Chips" of a stainless, and after 5000 miles my touch ups on the front end all ready make it look like my face before a big date in HS, however as WillowBigBearHillBilly pointed out-the Stainless ones all seem to get dented so darn easy. It wouldn't take much to cut out steel bars and put in a custom grille-I was close-maybe next time.

Hey willow- maybe you should take out your navel jewelry before working over the front! Sorry, couldn't resist. You might try (in a small spot at first) a cleanser called Bon Ami- used to use it years ago for that sort of thing, but it does contain some abrasive so be aware. Also possibly some 0000 steel wool or 1000 and then 2000 wet or dry -very wet. Good luck.
