I lost one of my keys and need another one made. I know it is a chipped key. What is this going to set me back?

If you only have one PATS key, the dealership has to program a new one for you (if you have two PATS keys and want a third, I think you can program it yourself). Dealership charged me about $130 to hook up the machine and cut/program a new key. They also threw in the door code for "free."

 

Can the Autoenginuity do the keys? Would be a great excuse to get one. Otherwise, check with a local locksmith. I found one that would do it for $40 if I drove to their store/office.

 

I had the same experience, but didn't think to ask for the door code!

 

The remote is also gone. Does that come with the key?

No. That is separate. Programming instructions are in the owners manual. Perhaps your dealer into programming both

 

No, I think those are expensive too, but shop around on the key, I took mine to the hardware store.

Local locksmith in western KY made replacement for lost key, and called a local individual who did auto electronic work for all the local body shops who programed the key for me, $25 for key, $40 for programing. Check local locksmith and auto body shops, who they use.

Then just take $8 key to local locksmith and pay them $20-$40 to program it.

 

Shop around a little if you want to save some money. The stealership would be the highest usually.

 

That's actually the remote clicker I linked to Scott, not the PATS key. But yeah, I agree with you.

Anyway, you CAN buy a blank key on eBay cheap also.
