Last I was digging around, the EC-1 spec required Nitrite. But it can in some situations attack aluminum components. My personal opinion is if EC-1 was a problem for our engines we'd have heard about it already. I think you are good-to-go with the Rotella you pictured (Nitrite Free) or the EC-1 version. I picked up some Delo ELC pretty cheap, and have seen it just as cheap at Walmart (although I haven't looked lately). Main thing to remember is to buy the Concentrate version of whatever ELC you choose, be it Rotella, Delo, Final Charge, Delvac, etc. - and after a thorough flushing with distilled water, and then whatever work you are doing/having done, refill with half of the cooling system's capacity with the Concentrate 1st, then add Distilled water until the system is fully packed.
