Determining junkyard leaf spring capacities
I have a '79 Bronco that is a little saggy in the back end. I have a junkyard nearby with many Dentsides in it. Looking at the charts on these linked pages it appears that Dentside Broncos and F100, 150, 250s (some of them) share the same size springs. The Bronco has some of the weaker rated springs. I was thinking I could bump up to the next rated springs up for cheap. My problem is how do you determine if they are the 1650, 1950, or 2450 rated springs on a junkyard truck. Does anyone have any tips for how to tell the difference between the springs under a rusty truck in the junkyard? Can it be figured out from the door tag?
