Question New to Powerstroke

Back in the spring, I bought a 95 F250 extended cab, long bed PowerStroke. It had 237,000 miles on it then and now has 249,000. I love it! There is a world of difference between it and the 96 F150 short/wide 6 cyl I traded in on it.

The dealer said he replaced the serpentine belt, glow plugs, both rear brake wheel cylinders, filters and oil. All this was done at the local Ford dealer. He put a set of 238/85 mud grips on it. All the way around. It is not 4 wheel drive.

He also said he thought it had a chip in it. I have seen posts here about removing the chip before taking a truck in for warranty work. What I would like to know is where is it and how would I tell if it is an after-market chip of not?

Another question: my OD light blinks. It may do it for a few days and then stay off for a couple of weeks. It also may do it for a couple of weeks and then stay off for a couple of days. There doesn't seem to be any particular thing that makes it do it. It shifts real hard from 1st to 2nd if it is blinking and softer like a normal automatic when it is not blinking. Other than that, it doesn't cause any problems. Is there some test I could do to see what is causing the problem or is it something I would have to take it to a shop for?

You can see it at http://www.geocities.com/bherring99/

Thanks for any info and sorry for the long post, Bob

bob...welcome to FTE...you will find that the wealth of knowledge found on this board in most cases will far exceed that of you local dealer.

go to the top of the page and click the blue search button. and you will find a wealth of info on both of your questions. as far as the OD light blinking...most would agree it's not good. There are several threads on this site about that being an indication that your tranny is about to go. the search for OD light would get your more info.
