The downfall of the Cummins is that it's mounted to a Dodge! Both are great engines. The Power Strokes came with higher HP/torque ratings from the factory than the Cummins. It is far cheaper to increase the power to the older Cummins than it is the Power Stroke and it's often hard to find chips/programmers for the early Power Strokes that will give significant power increases. Keep in mind that in 1994 there were 3 diesels offered by Ford, the IDI na, IDI turbo, and Power Stroke. Before 1994.5 Ford used the IDI and these engines are good, but have less power than the Power Strokes.
