How does caster/camber adjustment work on 2wd X?
Greetings all! I'm in the process of rebuilding the front end on my 2005 X 2wd (former paramedic truck with the Houston Fire Department with 200+K miles). I've seen the posts on curing the wander on the 4wd steering/suspension but haven't found much on fixing the problem on the 2wd. So far, I have replaced the ball joints and outer tie rod ends, and this weekend I am replacing the inner tie rods. Am I understanding correctly that the alignment bushings adjust the caster and camber at the same time together? How does that work exactly? I guess you have to compromise between the two settings since you're not adjusting them separately?

Look at the Moog K80109 4 degree adjustable bushings. I'm aligning my Ex for the first time this week so I'm not going to be of much help, but I have read where you should position these with the "fat" end to the rear to gain as much castor as you can. These bushing are two (2) separate adjustable pieces so you have more adjustability.
I've read a bunch on this forum and the consensus is 5 degrees of castor is the sweet spot.
Hopefully, other guys with more experience/knowledge will chime in.

Check your I beam and radius arm bushings. On both my 2wd Excursions they had significant play. I was wandering all over the place. Replaced those and I’m good to go. If your at stock height you should not need dual axis caster/camber bushings.
as old as our trucks are getting, I would safely guess your I beam and radius bushing are shot. Replace with energy suspension bushings and be done with it.
