I have an 1986 ford bronco with a 302, I’m looking to do a Manuel swap, a buddy of mine has a T-18 but doesn’t have the right bell housing for me and I’m having trouble finding one. I was wondering it a T-5 bellhousing will bolt time the t-18 or maybe if anyone has different trans options that might be easier to find. Keep in mind it‘s a crawler
If I recall the NP435 and the T18 have the same bolt pattern. For fords I believe they have a standard Ford pattern. I could really be wrong here, but seems if that T18 has a Ford bolt pattern it should mount up to standard 302 bellhousing. Ok edit here, to your original question. I don't know what the bolt pattern is on the T-5.
The NP-435, T18, T19 are all the same size and bolt pattern.
The 300, 302, and 351w all have the same bolt pattern. Any bell housing amongst those is going to be the same.
The only difference being hydraulic clutch vs. mechanical clutch.
The transmission to bell pattern on the NP 435, T18 and T19 is the same, the Ford "butterfly" rectangular pattern.
A T5 is NOT a crawler transmission. You can get them with 4something to 1 1st gear, but those were out of econoboxes or other small motors. A Mustang might get you a 3.35 first, but reverse would be high. OD is very tall. So if you have 6:1 gearing, a T5 might be worth looking into. It will require a Mustang bell, probably set up for a cable clutch or an adapter.
I just had a thought. If you already have the T18 tranny you should be able to find a FSB bellhousing off if Jegs or Summit Racing. Plus then that way scence your rig is a crawler the bellhousing would be a lot stronger then stock.
