hi every one i had my auto trans go out ant i was wundering
if i could put a manual out of a 87 ranger with a 2.3 in a 94 with a 3.0 i have the whole truck so i have the parts to do the swap i just need to know if it will bolt to the 2.3 or if theres an adaptor
The trans from the 2.3 will not bolt to the 3.0. If you are lucky, the trans might have a removable bell housing and you can purchase one for the 3.0, but most of the manual transmissions have the bellhousing made into the case.
He is correct. None of the trans between the I4, and V6 models are swappable the way they come out.
Now on the other hand, as johncfox mentioned, there was 1 trans (the Mitsubishi unit mostly found in some 4x4s) that had a removable bell housing that "could" be swapped. Since this same trans was used in a 2.3L 4x4 (rare), and the more common v6 4x4, it could be swapped if you keep the bell housing from your truck.
