Take a look at my drawing and tell me if you think this will work or if you see any major problems. I wanting to use the EBPV for a little extra braking and but my primary use for the truck will be in the winter so I'm interested in the quicker warmups too. Some on here swear by them and others said it doesn't work. Anyway I'm thinking this set up would give me the best of both worlds and can see for myself and all I would need to do is flip a switch.
So I can have the EBPV completely shut off by running the switch in the middle. Or I can run it like the factory set up with the switch flipped down. Or when I'm on that grade and want a bit more "braking" it can be flipped all the way up. Would it work?
Finally getting ready to do this this week. Someone voiced a concern that I possibly could back feed power to the computer. Don't see how. Anyway I don't have any spare connections left in the fuse box so I'm thinking of going to the battery. What size fuse should I be using?
No provision here for TC lockup, but pressing the OD button should give you lockup until you touch the brakes.
You’ll need a high idle to go with that for warmup mode.
I did something similar to this in my 6spd truck when I had an OE type turbo. It wasn’t that impressive, but my memory has certainly faded since then. I have added real exhaust brakes to these trucks and they DO make a difference, but aren’t nearly as economical.
Any idea what size fuse to run. There are a bunce of factory features in this truck and all of the extra power take offs in the fuse box are taken. Only 1 available between the 2 rows of relays and no room for a circuit add on plus the fuse falls out.
This post and some of the preceding discussion may interest you. Simply energizing the EBPV solenoid as you plan to will probably result in some codes being set.
