I was wanting to do the 10K mod to see if it will do anything for me my question is i want to put it on a toggle switch how did ya'll wire it up and what kinda switch was used.
I used a 5.6k with a tiny pushbutton switch mounted on my gearshift ****. It's off until I push the button. Otherwise it's a stock setup. Makes it handy for getting on the freeway and passing slowpokes.
Kwik, i'm guessing the 5.6k will give a little more oomph than the 10k? i've tried running a 10k, not sure if i noticed too much a a difference and it would only occasionally idle rough. curious about the 5.6 now...
I just recently did the 10K to mine and hooked it up to a toggle switch. I don't have guages so I didn't want to take a chance with anything hotter than that. I havn't really heard much on egt or boost dangers with the 5.6K. I read that the 10K is pretty safe. I did notice a big difference and love it. I was gonna try to drive normal a while to see what it did to my mileage but with that extra oomph I'm having a hard time not gettin after it at the red lights and stop signs.
well, ran downto Radio Shack earlier to grab a resistor and try out the 5.6k variation...soldered it up and stuck in the harness. after a test drive, the butt-o-meter is registering a little bit of an icrease maybe. deffinetly more smoke though for sure. but hey, its all good gotta love those looks at the gas station when slowing down to turn around with the whistle and the EBPV brake on. people act like they've never seen a truck before thats been "tweaked"

It give a lot more power but a real rocky idle on my truck. Since I like the smooth idle I decided on the switch. There's no mistaking it's engagment. The turbo sound goes up a couple of notes and you're off! It's most effective in 5th and 6th gear on the freeway. In the lower gears it just hits the redline too quick.

Thanks, I just didn't want it running all the time due to excess EGT fears and that pesky rough idle.
kwik, i'm not an electrical gizmo by any means, all my electrical is done by guesswork, how did you wire that switch into the resistor? i can't seem to picture it in my mind like i usually do....
anyone ever hear what the different H.P. increase ratings are for the 10K mod and the 5.6K mod?
a buddy of mine has a dyno and he said the 5.6k mod loses hp and has the same amount of torque but at lower rpms, he also said the afe intake lost hp so i dont know

RedStroker6,
I used speaker wire to connect the resistor to the switch. Just splice in the resistor on one side of the phased wires. I have mine connected to a toggle switch and relay that turns it off at idle thru the throttle validation switch on the pedal.

speaker wire is so great when running wire like that... or when you are wiring something with no ground nearby.
