My 2000 f450 has almost no power in reverse when im in soft dirt or need to back up a slope. The motor seems to need a little more power to get it up that slight slope or out of a hole.Thinking about a tuner to use only when I need it. Would like to have better fuel mileage on hwy also. Can tuner be used like this to turn on when I needed it?
Looking at a superchips flashpaq 5 that was recommended to me.It seems to be real easy to use, just plug it in under dash.?? Can I use this tuner for that purpose and turn it off and on when I need it??
Thanks in advance
Steve
I don't think a tuner is the solution for that scenario. If you have a 4x4 use low range. Anyway, post up more info on your truck like 4x4, manual, auto trans etc.
I’m not familiar with that particular tuner but believe superchips stuff is all flash through the OBD port. This isn’t what you want for multiple on/off.
A hydra or old 6 position style chip are both switch on the fly. Not sure what’s available for your heavier duty application though.
I just noticed you already have a thread about this with a different title." No power in reverse."
Yes there is another post. No I don't have 4wd, wish I did grannylow would get me out of any hole.
I used a new post to get information, opinions on tuner.
Havent found my no power in reverse problem yet. Was thinking I could cure it with a tuner.
Notice my other thread listed cold start, If I can get that cold staert problem fixed I bet it would fix my no power in reverse problem.
Cranked it this morning just to move it out of shed. no power in reverse and very loe in forward until my motor warms up for 15 mins.
Have no problem at all when I plug in block heater. Why would I need a block heater in July in Mississippi??? . So I have something wrong until motor warms up. One response was injectors having to warm up. My mechanic doesn't have time to look at it my backup shop is 3 weeks out. So heck I just let it warm up good in mornings and prevent from having to use reverse to climb any slope or soft. dirt or mudd. Until I find problem
Thanks for you advice Gentlemen
Sounds like you have bigger issues that might need resolved before adding a tuner to the mix.
I am with Jason on this one.. sounds like injectors to me too. If it's an Auto then I would also suspect the clutches in it are worn out . Reverse is the first to go in a lot of automatics. I Wouldn't do a tuner until you addressed the other problems.
