Hey guys need some quick facts as to why you would buy a new 150 over a Silverado. Besides the fact that its a Ford. My buddy is doing a presentation on this and he needed some help. He needs facts not speculation. Thanks a bunch.
My buddy owns a 6.0L 2500 silverado and he said he regrets buying the truck with that engine. He loves the truck but he says the 6.0L is gutless until you wind it up pretty hard and it gets horrible gas mileage. He wishes he would have splurged for the duramax. He recently moved all his belongings from Colorado to Illinois and he said the trip was miserable with the heavy load. He is die hard chevy and wouldn't consider a ford.
There's nothing gutless about GM's 6.0L V8. I spent a few thousand miles towing some 4000 to 6000lb enclosed trailers with a non-HD 2500 Chevy 6.0L and it does fine. It has to (with auto tranny) downshift more often than the 6.8L V10 and won't accelerate as well uphill but I sure wouldn't call it gutless.
He said it is gutless until it revs to the moon. It seems chevy likes to make there tourqe higher up in the rpms than ford and dodge. Causing higher horsepower numbers. Witch also means pulling a load at higher rpm's witch means the engine will wear out faster.
Just talked to my aunt tonight. She has a new Silverado 2500 with the 6.0L gas engine also. She says that truck has been a nightmare since the day she bought it. 4x4 service soon light stays on, daytime running lights blow constantly and cost 50 bucks each for dealer replacement. Now, the transmission failed at 47,000 miles. Cost to repair that: $2,600. She says the ONLY good thing about that truck is the gas mileage.
Typical GM junk. GM trucks have been junk since 1988. Why on earth do some people insist on continuing to buy them?

Because they, like everyone now days, make a very good truck. Trip on over to the 6.0PSD forum and ask the same question about Ford owners.
I replaced my DRL bulbs in my 01 HD2500 with some HD yellow bulbs from Pep Boys to get a little different look when the truck was new. $5 total. They were still going strong at 32k.

He doesn't like to shift at 4,000 rpm every time so for the most part yes it feels gutless to him. He said on the interstate while towing he has to kick it down hard to take hills. He feels like he has to beat the engine up to get any power. He would trade all that horsepower for some grunt down low.
Someone sell me some grunt for this dog V-10 In my Excursion..
Im thinking I need to add a second motor to the back somewhere for extra umph..Its pretty dismal pulling 2,000 pounds up the hills in WV..
And for the person up above complaining about the GM tranny going out at 47,000 miles. My Expedition Beat that, made it to 44,000 before a complete overhaul was needed. Excursion showing signs now at 55,000 of tranny problems.
