I have a 450 on order, and from the VOC it looks like there is a material hold for the limited slip axle.. Could be another reason for the lack of availability.

When I got mine in May 2019 there were basically none in NC except XL work trucks. Just happened to find mine 30 minutes from home. It had been for sale for 5 months then it suddenly appeared on autotrader, a guy had ordered it and got tired of waiting, it took5 months to get to dealer. The day after I found it I snagged it!

The F450 is the premium pickup truck in the world. Inventory is exceptionally low due to COVID and the factories having been shutdown. If you can currently find one that you like, then buy it immediately and count yourself fortunate. Or place a custom order with your dealer if you can wait a bit. Going back to Chevy would just be shooting yourself in your own foot but hey, if that's what you want...

I agree. Probably won't but that's how I got to Ford in the first place in 2008. It was the arrogance of the Chevy dealers thinking that I was such a loyal Chevy guy that I would buy a Chevy no matter what. Now, I haven't even talked to a dealer yet. Just been looking but I have to start soon. Need to buy before end of the year so I have a little time

You have less time than you think if you have to order a truck. There's only 5 months left. I assume you need to order for tax purposes or some other such consideration, so if you have to take delivery to make it work by end of year and you decide to order, order soon. If for whatever reason you can use the agreed upon price and order slip, then you may have more time.

You couldn't pay me to buy a new Chevy. Those are the ugliest trucks I think I've ever seen. The 450 has advantages no other truck in this class has, namely the big ole front axle that lets the truck turn shorter than my Civic Si will (felt that way on the test drive anyway.)

Find yourself a good dealer, and order exactly what you want.. I ordered 7/17, and my dealer just called me yesterday saying the truck was scheduled for the week of 9/14.

Like I said, I agree that the Ford is better overall. I have my trailers all set up for the f350 I'm driving now. I'm used to it and know it's pros and cons very well. It would be very tough to change brands. I'll see how the process goes
