Tire pressure is much more important than the degas pressure (we have a built in way of knowing when 16 psi is exceeded with the degas cap), yet what do we do for tire safety?

Maybe we could start a thread on that and leave Visurveyor's thread alone.

I do agree that accurate pressure measurement is not necessarily an easy thing. I have years in R&D also. Remember though - price does not guarantee quality. I do admit I check my tire pressure gauges when I buy them (as stated, I do so against a calibrated gauge - calibrated locally where I worked instead of relying on one that might have been beaten up in shipping like a radiator I have recently seen). The average person just isn't going to do that, and doesn't need to IMO (again everyone has a different perspective and nothing wrong with that). I will say though, that I have probably only thrown away a couple of tire pressure gauges over 45 years - for poor accuracy, so clearly it does happen, but not that hard to get a good one.

I suspect most people have already done what is needed to have a reasonably accurate one, so hopefully most careful owners have a tire pressure gauge they are reasonably confident in (within a few psi) - again it just isn't that hard to find one (cheap)! EDIT - you can even use it for fuel pressure (if the range goes high enough) - as before, you can be within 4-5 psi of accuracy for this and be fine - as long as you have 50 + psi. I verify my dash fuel pressure gauge routinely with the tire pressure gauge. Works fine - reads within a few psi ..... just like the coolant gauge.

If you are on the border line of an issue - well then upgrade your gauge, but don't use price as the guide for quality. Also, don't be surprised if shipping destroys the accuracy of your expensive gauge.

Update on Dave's quick fix? NOT!!!
I slowed it, but defiantly didn't stop it. I'll be driving for essentials and that's about it. Next radiator will be here Monday. 😒

Whose radiator did you end up going? I haven't found any aftermarket radiators that offer the same fins/inch as the stock radiator so the stocker still offers the most heat transfer area.

The stock radiator can't be shipped UPS as they are terribly packaged and get destroyed every time. You typically have to pick them up at the dealer as Ford can somehow get them to the dealer without being damaged. Unfortunately I can't find them for good prices at the dealers anymore. On my last truck I picked one up locally for ~$400. Called around recently and the lowest was $550! Some dealers were charging almost $700...

I got lucky with my truck (purchased late last year). After the coolant flush it started seeping out the seams. Not as bad as yours but enough to leave red marks on the side of the radiator. But then magically healed itself up and doesn't leak anymore...fingers crossed!

Here's what I got, minus the broke mount.

Looked pretty sturdy, minus the bent mount stub and the big as- crack it caused. Have another coming Monday.
$131 versus $342 at Napa. Dealer $560.
Now I might be fooling myself, thinking it will work. But as long as it gets me through this fakedemic, I'm good. We get back to work I'll drop the change for an oem. Tile and wood floors aren't on people's mind right now. Gotta do what ya gotta do. 😁😁😁
P.S. Auto Shack is where I purchased it.

You get what you pay for....and you’re already planning on doing the job twice?

As far as the cooling system pressure goes....I wouldn’t over think that to much....parts do tend to fail here and there. Could excessive pressure cause this? Yes. But no signs of puking or coolant loss previously I wouldn’t sweat it.

I had gotten mine through RockAuto, shipped fine, but I just looked and they don't list the auto one anymore. That was with shipping and tax, damn, prices have gone up.

Well here's a day in the internet buying saga.
You got to be kidding me. UPS is part of it, but auto shack doesn't pack there products very well.
So now I guess I'm gonna spend a lot to get a radiator. I think Dave is done with this internet shopping. If I can't see it I ain't buying it.
Sorry if I'm venting but I'm a little pissed.

These critters should be double boxed. You should see what Parasound does with their Amplifiers.

I also bought my Motorcraft one from RA last year. They double boxed it. Arrived it perfect shape. I still have some of the packaging material (big foam sheets) around that I use when needed.

I guess all that really matters is HOW people express their differing opinions, eh Mark?

I went through the same thing ordering from Performance Radiator.

These pics are the second and third ones they shipped. Third was sent via messenger from their warehouse in Waco. I ended up keeping it and getting my money back too.

That piece of foam in the first pic is the only packing material that was in the box. How that company manages to stay in business...

I think there is a Rorschach reaction from people in the transport industry when the word radiator is printed on the box. Probably not only is there an involuntary leg-kick reaction as the driver walks past the box in the delivery truck, the programmer of the automated traffic control on the distribution conveyor belt probably didn't realize he set the directional control to eject the package off the main conveyor to the floor at its highest point.
