Alternative tire size

Hey all.
Got a ‘93 F250 with stock 235/85/16 on it.
Lookin to snag a used set but seems like they’re hard to come by.

How do I figure out the alternative tire size(s)? I don’t want to alter gasmilage (unless it goes up), or speedometer, or stance much? Just want a size I can easily find 😂🤷‍♂️
Is that a thing? Will it be possible?

Custom wheels, rim tire packages

That site has an interface that allows you to play with tire sizes and shows visual comparisons, along with info about suspension clearance, speedometer variance, etc.

still trying to find a cheap used tire but decent shape for a farm, backpacking camping type truck.
Found a set of 265/75/16’s and the website says they’ll fit.
The rims he says are 8x170. Stock rims for 93 F250 says 5x139.7. But my truck currently has 8 lug nuts.

How do I make sure these new rims will fit my axel and do a full swap of wheels and tires?

The stock bolt pattern would by 8x6.5 (in) or 8x165.1mm.

I have 235-75-R15 tires on my stock 1991 F-150 XLT Lariat, 5.0L, regular cab, long bed 2WD. . The rims are standard 8 hole steel wheels(?) Does anybody know the stock wheel bolt spacing on these rims and where to find stock type 16" rims that will fit this bolt pattern? How about the backspacing ?

Pat, you're truck should have 5 lug wheels on a 5.5" spacing. 15" diameter, and 7 or 7.5" wide with zero offset (this would be stock/OEM). 16" wheels never came from Ford on the OBS half ton trucks. I have a set of 16x7 wheels on my F-150, again zero offset, 5x5.5 lugs. There weren't many stock vehicles that had this bolt pattern in a 16" wheel; Dodge did but with way too much backspace. Some old Jeep wheels would work. That's what lead me to buying a set of American Racing wheels, just not much out there for used OEM wheels in that size. Are you wanting to switch to a 16" wheel?

245/75r16 or 265/75r16 will work on an F250. 265 is the same diamater roughly... I think Ford used 235/85R16 ( which is really a DRW size ) is simply because they could put one tire on all the heavy duty trucks. Even the F Super Duty ran 235/85R16. Where a GM ran a 245/75R16 or a 265 on everything except a DRW. Dodge actually used multiple 16" sizes in that time period, tho most ( if they still run ) will have been converted to a 245/75

So on my stock rims 8x6.5 what is the widest tire I can have on there before the beed pops off or something?

Im still trying to find a few used tires. I see a lot of 265/75/16 or 285/70/16 type numbers which would fit on my 16” rim but are pretty wide.

8 x 6.5 is the bolt pattern and has nothing to do with the width of the wheel. If you change tire size, you want something that matches the overall tire diameter of your stock tires to maintain speedo reading. Just use the tire and wheel sizer in that link provided previously to find combinations that match up close to your originals. Your tire should be wider than your wheel.
