Tire Size Matters?

My truck needs tires, currently it has 265 75R 22.5's. The tire shop I am working with stated this is no longer a common tire size to find in stock. They recommend I change them for 255 70 22.5's. This size is supposedly more common to find in stock. I run a tow truck so can't afford for my truck to be down long. So being in stock is important. But.....

Have any of you had problems finding this tire size?
If I decide to change the size to the 255's will it affect my speedometer?
What would you more knowledgeable recommemd?
Thank you

Google those tire sizes and revolutions per mile. More revs per mile will slow you down. Maybe order them and keep a couple of your old ones. In a bind you would have a back up.

Thank you for your advise. After a brief search I found this cool site that does the calculations for you. Looks like it would only throw my speedometer off by approx 1-2 mph. That may not be too bad.

Here is the website to the tire size calculator:

Have your tire guy check on 275/70R22.5
Only 1/2" difference in height
Less than 1 mph difference
