Naw, really low energy prices are bad. Something like 1 in 10 jobs is energy related and it pays on the high side because of all the science and engineering involved.
They should go back up and then spike after hitting a shortage. The drop is artificial caused by Coronavirus lack of demand and Russia wanted to price war targeting the US energy industry at the same time.
Keep thinking that I move the final product all around on the Intracoastal and Mississippi River. They have been shipping more gasoline and diesel to Mexico than I have ever seen and this was before this scamdemic started.
If never seen diesel cheaper than gas in Texas. Right now, gas can easily be found @$1.55, while the cheapest diesel is $1.88, which is a typical spread. These days of plenty will be short lived for sure. A while after buying my first diesel is when it shot up to $5 a gallon. Guys were driving into Mexico (where it was much cheaper) to get diesel and if you had an auxiliary tank that wasn't connected to your trucks fuel system, MX Customs seized your truck saying you were exporting fuel to the US for commercial use!
Just in the last week my boat has pumped 9 million gallons to be put on trains to go to Mexico one week my boat alone. There are millions and millions of barrels getting sent over there weekly and has been for almost 2 years now. Regular and Super Unleaded and diesel. Im headed to Exxon right now to load another 2.2 million gallons to put on a train to go.
That's why I zlso drive an EV, got rid of the Bike years ago due to too much traffic. Can't imagine riding one now with people driving while on their cell phones.
I won't get rid of my EV when the truck comes in due it being paid off plus no maintenance.
EVs complement superduty trucks. My F-350 diesel costs me 18 cents/mile to run for fuel and oil. My Nissan Leaf EV costs me 2.1 cents/mile for electric if I only charge at home. Our EV is our primary vehicle. In the 5 years and 3 EVs, the only cost other than electric was $18.23 for wiper blade inserts. Not only that I reduced my federal income tax liability $22,500 by buying the 3 EVs.

I agree as well. I have a couple of Prius Prime plug-in hybrids. We use them in EV mode for commuting and errands, and road trips if we are not hauling/towing. It costs about 60 cents of electricity for 25 miles. Gasoline here is about $3.00 and diesel is $3.02. One of the larger refineries of Alaska crude is a few miles north of here, but taxes etc keep prices higher than TX or LA.
2.19 is really good for around here. 2.39 has been the cheapest I've found near me. Most places are 2.89 or 2.99 which has me a little concerned about the 2.39 place but so far, so good. I always see local trucks filling up there (landscapers and in-town transport, same companies filling up every day), I would think if there was an issue with the fuel, I'd be able to find something about it online.
I lied, I drove past it yesterday and it is $2.29 But yes the Shell and Mobil are always a good $0.50 higher. Lexington on Marrett/Waltham are always competing for $$, Cumberland and Mobil(?) Gas Buddy says it is $2.09 I like that !
Anyone ever use Gas Buddy to pay for their gas? Looks like it connects to your bank account and you save $0.25 a gallon ?? https://www.gasbuddy.com/pay
Cheap fuel prices are nice..............but, please, every time you fuel up, say a prayer for all the guys n gals that are now unemployed because of the downturn in the good old US oil industry. I am not speaking about the CEO’s and exec’s, but the folks that were out in the weather in all conditions, doing things that most would never consider, just because they liked doing that sort of work.
Have a great day.
