Work Truck Thread!

Was at our General Service Headquarers picking our new welder up today and saw some 2017 4 and 550s getting ready to be put into service. Wanted to start this thread to show off your work trucks. Let's see what ya got!

My chariot for the day.

Well, it's pretty clear Georgia Power doesn't like diesel, Josh!

Probably smart. Gas gets the job done, cheaper to buy, and cheaper to maintain.

The 6.4 burned em pretty bad. Your department has to make a pretty strong case as to why it needs a 6.7L. The V-10s have done great. No issues out of the 6.2L either.

They order them for certain applications. Mostly your guys burning down the road. Our Breaker Crew guys are only getting 4-5MPGs with the V-10s and having to fill up twice a day on average due to the territory they cover during the week. They are allowing them to get 6.7s.

Very interesting. There have been several published studies from fleet managers about gas v diesel, and lifetime operational costs. It seems the mpg benefit diesel brings is not as great as it once was, the option cost of the diesel engine is higher than ever, and of course maintenance and repair costs are much higher with the diesel. The V10 is a pretty tried and true product. Lot of guys just want the diesel for the extra power.

But anyway, not trying to hijack the thread. Let's see those work trucks!
