I filled up the truck today. I don't do this often as I am working from home during the Covid days. And you sure won't see a price like this often. Especially for diesel. I did have a Kroger discount of .70 cents applied. But still....
I remember the $5 diesel from like 2008, that was a lot for the time considering inflation. I bought a left over 2007 2500 Ram 5.9 Cummins pretty loaded out for $34,500 which was like $12,000 off. I rode my motorcycle around that summer mainly because filling up was killing me. My uncle got an F250 for like $16,000 off too.
Kept that truck 6 years and 120k miles and had people lining up to buy it at $24k. It was super clean. Besides fixing the front end constantly it was a pretty cheap endeavor.

Oh yeah...I had a 4.6L F150 at the time on 33's. $4/gal gas and that truck got 10mpg on a good day. I was spending $60/wk just back and forth to work...nothing else.
So I went out and bought a new motorcycle...and I SAVED money doing it. Almost $300 in gas a month...or a $230 bike payment and $35 insurance ($265). I parked my truck and was saving $40 a month and had a blast! I put 8,000 miles on that bike in the first year (2008-2009).

That's why I zlso drive an EV, got rid of the Bike years ago due to too much traffic. Can't imagine riding one now with people driving while on their cell phones.
I won't get rid of my EV when the truck comes in due it being paid off plus no maintenance.
$2.19 I think I saw yesterday I think I saw. Not sure if it was a cheap or expensive place, I was just stopped at a light and saw it
that's here in MA
edit: you can look up local prices on this site.

2.19 is really good for around here. 2.39 has been the cheapest I've found near me. Most places are 2.89 or 2.99 which has me a little concerned about the 2.39 place but so far, so good. I always see local trucks filling up there (landscapers and in-town transport, same companies filling up every day), I would think if there was an issue with the fuel, I'd be able to find something about it online.
I'd fill up my off-road tanks for truck use, but I'm afraid to pump 1 and 2 year old diesel into my truck when it only takes a raindrop of water to detonate a new 6.7 apparently.

Prices haven't been that low in this area sice around 1990 haha. Im actually seeing an increase in fuel prices, more so on gas, but diesel is creeping up too. Diesel prices seemed to take longer to drop and now are taking longer to rise.
Filled up the other day at $1.75 per gallon here in SC, no discount or anything just everyday price. These prices might not last but each time i drive past a gas station it makes me think, at these prices I shouldve purchased the F-450 instead of the F-250.
Naw, really low energy prices are bad. Something like 1 in 10 jobs is energy related and it pays on the high side because of all the science and engineering involved.
They should go back up and then spike after hitting a shortage. The drop is artificial caused by Coronavirus lack of demand and Russia wanted to price war targeting the US energy industry at the same time.
Diesel is around $0.40 - $50/gal cheaper than gasoline around here. For example, the King Soopers has prices at $1.98/gal for diesel and then the 3 grades of gasoline are $2.48, $2.68, and $2.93. This is pretty typical pricing, though there is quite a bit of variance if you're a poor shopper. $1.88/gal is the low end of the diesel prices.
