So im deeply considering getting a 351w to swap into my truck(its a 1970 f100). Im trying to find a 92-97 roller 351w and my question is. Should i use the stock heads or my somewhat ported 302 heads. Which will flow better? I know i will have to drill the head bolt holes out but that shouldnt be an issue. I do eventually plan to get some aluminum heads for it but i cant do everthing right now. I didnt know how good the 90s 351 heads flowed or if my 58cc or something like that 302 heads with a small port job would be better. Just trying to get a game plan so i can figure my budget thats the reason for asking before i buy a motor. Thanks
They are C9TE heads from a 1970 302 i believe. I removed the thermactor bump and widened both ports out. Didnt do much around the valves though.
The E7 heads were actually better as cast than the older heads, but since you ported them, probably not. I would though have screw in studs put in the C9 heads if you're going to cam it up with an aggressive cam profile. And just FYI the E7 heads on the roller 351 have 64 cc chambers.
if you get a 351w roller motor why not go with the GT 3 bars cast iron heads from the 5.0 96-97 explorer do a lil port on them and you'll get good flow from them specially if your on a budget.
