Solenoid on starter

just replaced starter on '04 Expedition. Started right up but shut it off and tried to restart and wouldn't start. Solenoid down on the starter gets extremely hot. New battery, new fender/firewall solenoid, and as i said new starter. I'm stumped HHHHHEEEELLLPPPP!!!!!!!!!

Check the grounds and make sure they are good..... next step.. check the new solenoid/starter...likely bad

Exchange it. Yes the solenoid could be bad, but also the starter could have a shorted winding which causes excessive current draw, which in turn could heat up the solenoid.
