mono leaf springs.

I have read so much about front mono leaf springs on google and other forums about are they safe. It's such an easy way to lower my 64- 4". has Anyone on this forum used these for any length of time? I don't drive my truck every day and it's hauling days are over, I would like to use mono springs, but cannot find any real info on them like are they USA made ? Thanks

I believe Steve had them on his 64 before swapping in a jag front end. Maybe read his build here or contact him. Slick 60's ? View topic - Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Can you say "Axle tramp??" I knew you could.
Seriously, if you go this route, remount your shocks so that one is in front, and one in the rear of the axle. That way, when the axle wraps, one shock is in compression, one in rebound. As the two are different rates, this helps eliminate axle tramp.
With no interleaf friction to damp out oscillations, you'll need the help from the shocks.

P.S. There is a reason Chevrolet did not put monoleafs in higher powered Camaros.

Well, at long as you don't apply the brakes...

True, I did miss the front thing, but braking is the opposite of acceleration, and axles can hop then, too. Makes the pucker stronger when you're trying to avoid something, vs. trying to impress some young thing.

Why not just get a dropped axle?

Depending on just how low your trying to go, I would recommend reverse eye main leaves, and then just 4-5 short leaves, I have this in my 63 and I have not had any trouble with any front end issues.

I've had a set for about 18 years, daily driven and have not had any problem.

Thanks for the response; I have used many dropped axles when I was into 56 F100's. I was in the F100 club and we did a lot of axles. they work well but you have to do a lot off mods. to make them handle well. I don't want any more of the dropped axle problems.

Inexpensive suspension “upgrades” all have their downside.
If you gain something, you’re gonna give up something else.

Very well put, of course the only way to avoid that is by throwing $ at the problem, it can become very expensive and still comes with its own problems as well.
