Dashcam Always On Install

I've been looking at making my dashcam always on through upfitter switch 6. If I understand it right, this can be done by moving the fuse and connecting the camera wire to the upfitter wire in order to make swtich 5 and 6 hot. The camera is 10W according to the manufacturer. Its a Sosche camera that has a USB connector. My question is since its on the inside of the cab, and the upfitter switches are already powered (they light up when they are flipped on) can I splice into the switch 6 line anywhere along its run to get the camera powered? Do I need to put a fuse between it and the camera? I'm a little confused because of all the reading I'm doing with conversation about the foot panel on the passenger side with the wires for the upfitter switches. The truck is a 2020 F250 Lariat. Thanks.

You should be able to splice into your #6 upfitter wire in the cab for POWER. The upfitter switch does not always stay on though, at least not in my 2012, just when the engine is on. I used a fuse tap kit to make my camera always on. And yes, you will need a fuse to your camera, added protection. All the camera wires sold should have a built in fuse. Hope this helps..
