I’m new to the diesel community and I need some help, I bought a 2003 6.0 f350 with 124,000 miles on it, Egr delete, and has been studded and a reman turbo, I have been having a misfire at about 1,200 rpm while driving it. Can’t really feel it at idle and I’ve been getting white smoke out of the tail pipe on a cold start in the mornings, no codes what so ever.
I will be getting the connector and app today, what are some things I should look for when I get everything, and I have noticed that the truck misfires going up hill while under load, and after getting warm it starts to misfire while sitting at a stop light or something like that.
Lots of people have good success with the BAFX adapter (its for Android, won't work on iOs)...should be around $23. Most of the adapters you see for ~$10 are going to be hit or miss. They are clones of clones, won't have the correct version of ELM, ect...but there are a lot of choices nowadays, maybe there are some good ones out there now. I would pay the $20 and be done with it. You're going to use this ALL THE TIME going forward.
I use the OBDlink EX with Forscan + extended license on my laptop. It is almost a Pro tool, very fast, super stable, does almost everything, including programing, but very tech centric with a bit of a learning curve....I use the BAFX with Torque Pro on my phone. It reads and clears codes and makes a decent monitor. Super simple very easy to use. Good luck, Russ
thank you everyone for the recommended connectors, I ended up using a buddy of mines snap-on scan tool and I finally got some codes. they are
p2284 injector control pressure sensor circuit range/performance- icp voltage is at .94
p0272 cylinder 4 contribution/balance fault
p0278 cylinder 6 contribution/balance fault
p0281 cylinder 7 contribution/balance fault
my main question here is could the icp sensor be causing the three injector codes I have? any help is appreciated
1,4,6,7 are all on the same FICM channel. Your 3 codes are all on the same FICM channel. You could have a FICM issue or a FICM harness issue. Make sure that the FICM X-1 plug is fully plugged in. The X-1 plug is the one on the end. Could be injectors also.
P2284: ICP Sensor Circuit - Range/Performance. ICP desired does not equal ICP signal, causing the system to use the default inferred ICP value. Often times, this is a code for an IPR problem instead of an ICP problem.
Well I checked to make sure my connector was plugged in all the way and harness and Everything looks good. Checked voltage on FICM and never went below 47 volts. Anything else I should try?
