one way to eliminate a cause is by doing what i do, remove the choke flange from the top of the carb and drive it like that for a couple days and see if that helps, if so you know you have something on your choke system not acting right, it should only have 2 to 4 screws holding it on. and since the float is not adjustable, its a good thing to replace the needle and seat and float anyways they aren't very expensive, you can get the whole rebuild kit and just replace those couple items yourself, the kit isn't but about 22 to 25 dollars
