For those with Adaptive steering or those who chose against it. What are you thoughts on Pros/Cons? I had ordered my truck with it but when I got my window sticker it was missing. So I had the dealer look into it and I guess Ford missed it but it’s too late to get it added on. So now I’m either taking the truck without it or re ordering and waiting all over again.
I intentionally ordered it without and I'm pretty sure I'll never miss it. And I don't need to worry about it breaking.
Folks that have it generally say they like it. I've seen other stories online where people had problems and it was a pain to get resolved. I can live without both the benefit and potential drama.
My only experience was driving a 19’ (without) back to back with a 20 (with) and I was surprised at how easy it felt when parking etc. That being said I didn’t have any issues with the 19’. The 20 just seemed that much smoother/easier. I have no idea how much of it was just a 19’ vs 20’ etc. I also do see a big up side to not having it when it comes to maintenance etc.
I guess it’s just frustrating more then anything when you order a 90k (cad) truck and it isn’t how you ordered it. But maybe this is a error that could be in my favour.
I traded my '17 without in for my '20 with and I definitely like the feel of the adaptive better. Easier to park but still feels tight on the highway. I would probably do it again if I was given the option, but also wouldn't really miss it that much if it wasn't there.
If you plan on leveling the truck I'd stay away from it. Quite a few guys have had issues with it not being calibrated correctly and getting really weird "flighty" feeling at speed. IMO, its just another thing that will break and doesn't really do much for ya. Save the money, keep the truck you got coming to ya. I have 37's and no adaptive steering and it feels great in tight spaces and parking.
If you're comparing the steering of a 2019 to a 2020, it might not be the same even if both trucks do not have adaptive steering. The 20 has electric assist steering that makes for easier steering. There isn't much info on the web on this - I'm not sure if all the 20's have it, or just the ones with the pro trailer backup assist.

I do have pro trailer on my build. Only reason for it was to have the 360deg cameras. If this helps a little with the feel of the steering then maybe I don’t need the adaptive steering. Thanks for the info. I was a little curious if all of the feel difference I noticed between the 19’ and 20’ was from the adaptive steering or not.
I have the pro trailer thing and adaptive steering. Low or high speed, the trucks steers great. I love the quicker steering for parking lot maneuvers and backing the trailer. Steering effort is right on the money. Would definitely buy it again.
Hate the adaptive in my 2019. Hard to steer on highways and rural roads. Always fighting me. Always trying to return to straight ahead. I miss My 2016 so much. Seats were much better, being able to see out back window down into bed with a large viewing area, hard steering. the 16 was flawless too. I could throw up now I'm stuck with this beast. Waste of money.

What you describe doesn't sound like an Adaptive steering issue, maybe alignment. I cant say that Ive experienced any of what you've described with my Adaptive steering equipped truck. Some slight wander on the highway, yes, but even that I can't factually attribute to adaptive steering.
My 2020 has it can’t stand it, does really weird stuff, sometimes is harder to turn right than left, sometimes easy steering other times it’s like it’s non power assisted, truck wanders sometimes was very noticeable when I first got it, getting used to it but really it’s painful. Had three 17+ previous to this 20 and wouldn’t order again if could.

What makes you sure that its at all related to the adaptive steering? I would suspect the new for 2020 electric overlay before the adaptive based on your symptoms. The adaptive steering changes the turning ratio, but not the effort, there is no assist involved. The new electric overlay however, could actually change the steering effort, maybe yours intermittently stops assisting at weird times.

Something has to be wrong with your trucks. What you are describing sounds nothing like driving mine.
