I understand that. What I a am saying is.... maybe adaptive steering works better with the new electric/hydraulic system, than it does with the standard hydraulic system. From what I’m reading, the elec/hyd can vary steering effort to meet conditions. Maybe that solves some of the issues with adaptive steering?
That doesn't explain why some of the complaints are coming from 2020 owners, and why many with 17-19's are perfectly happy with it. The only issues I was ever aware of on the 17-19, were steering wheels being of center by 90 degrees or so. Additional steering effort intermittently, more effort in one direction or another, do not sound like adaptive steering issues. I thought you were trying to say that the combination of the systems on the 2020's could be creating an issue if not functioning properly. I misunderstood you too.
For those with Adaptive steering or those who chose against it. What are you thoughts on Pros/Cons? I had ordered my truck with it but when I got my window sticker it was missing. So I had the dealer look into it and I guess Ford missed it but it’s too late to get it added on. So now I’m either taking the truck without it or re ordering and waiting all over again.
Started out not wanting it and didn't have it on my F350 DRW. Then I drove the Mrs' 2018 Edge Sport with AS and loved it! My 2019 F450 has it and, combined with the amazing turning radius, I love it! It's awesome.
Just ordered without. Got a 2020 with trailer backup camera. Most power steering has some variable ratio anyway. I couldn't really justify the price. Did get adaptive cruise though, as I really like it on my Prius.
Was surprised they don't offer self parking feature on Super Duty yet since there is now electric overlay.
I guess part of my dilemma is that in Canada it doesn't appear that we pay any extra for adaptive steering. So I'm not getting a price savings from not having it which is why when I built my truck it seemed like it was worth having it added on as it is a free option. So not having it on the truck I don't save any money, just the possibility of saving that maintenance down the road if it were to ever act up. It also doesn't overly seem like something that can be added onto the truck once it is built either.
Would not have a truck without it. After test driving 2 without they felt like driving a semi. My 20 with adaptive is the closest thing to driving my f150. Very happy with it. Cj

I agree. I drove a F450 with it and it was a blast to drive. I was test driving around tight inner city streets and a mall parking lot, and it almost felt like I was driving a sports car, only 8’ wide. I would have bought one in a second if I could have gotten 450 pickup in a Super Cab. I’m still disappointed I ended up with a 350 instead.
