I have a 94 ranger no power steering no ac(just a vent). I was going to put an ac unit in the bed and run duct into the blower motor box. When I put the leaf blower on the duct to see if it would blow into the cab, nothing came out of the air vents in the cab. When I turn on the trucks heater or vent, it pushes air back into the duct. The opposite way I need it to go. Is the blend door screwing it up or what? Anybody know the trucks air system or have a diagram?
Being addicted to AC, I understand why you need it. I've had a '94 2.3L Ranger and have run it with an air conditioner for a dozen years before putting in a 3.0 engine. The four banger did fine with the AC although you could feel it kick in and out when going up a hard pull grade. It was no problem and didn't hurt gas mileage much if any.
I'm sure you've checked it out, but just in case, have you tried finding an AC unit from a similar year Ranger that you can just install the entire rig. I did that to an '87 F250, and the system was a bolt-in job. The wiring loom on the original, non-AC truck had all the connectors already in it, so that it was a "plug-and-play."
I have a diagram of the AC/heat venting system for your /94 and will try to attach it, but it will be a few days. I've got a ton of family in right now and am covered up riding herd on the grandkids. If you haven't heard from anyone else by midweek,I'll get it to you.
Good luck,

I mean, if you really want AC this is an option. (photo taken by me....at walmart). Take your time, there is a lot going on here. (and good luck on your project)
