Side Mirrors

Hey folks, for a very long time, have been comtemplating on getting new side mirrors to help with towing. I have looked at the aftermarkets and get somewhat confused on what is out there.

I have the 2002 Limited Excursion with stock mirrors that have heat and the arrow turn signal indicator in the mirror.

What I would like to have is the power extendable mirrors with heat and side marker/turn signal. However, not clear on if this combination is available and if it will be direct plug or need to modify the wiring? If so, what is the modification, just link the mirror power for extending to a power wire in the door?

Anyone done this and if so, have a link to this mirror?

I went with these for my 2003, they were plug an play. The only think is they are only power fold not power extend. When I did my research a couple of years ago, there was not a good aftermarket set that were both power fold and power extend. I tried to find OEM take-offs, and rewire them, but could never get a good matching set, and the project seemed to be a little difficult(Look in the tech folder, there are a couple of threads in there about mirrors).

One went out on me, but it was covered under warranty, but the bad part was if I wanted the warranty to continue I had to send back the defective set and pay the shipping back. So shipping was about $70, so to replace my defective mirror I essentially had a $70 deductible. I like them and got over the fact I did not have power extend. I will hit the fold button, and when they are folded I can grab mine and extend it, and the wife will do hers, then we hit the button to unfold and we are ready to tow. There may be newer options now, good luck.

These mirrors are so big and stick out quite a way as it is, I don't think I would need to extend them unless I was pulling a 20 ft or longer trailer. On my last Ex, I towed my 12 ft trailer with the paddle mirrors and was fine. I wonder how many people realize even the wide angle mirror is heated. I do love my mirrors!
