Also if you are adventurous, you could probably stick a borescope camera into the intake valley through the distributor hole then through the oil return hole or maybe IAT sensor port or the like and look for the lifters retaining "spider". That would be a dead-giveaway for a true roller.

Roller lifters are longer so...And you don't even have to measure it, just shine a light down the pushrod hole and look for the dogbone around the lifter, if they are present it's a roller motor.

Has anyone seen a '94 with an F4TE block with a flat tappet cam that wasn't a Lightning?
I've seen a bunch of '94's with flat tappet blocks and flat tappet cams, but never one that was mixed (not including Lightnings obviously).
