ABS Sensor Replacement Issue
ABS Sensor Replacement Issue
Hi all,
Posting a tip that might help.
So my ABS sensor on the left front wheel was stuck right proper. It wouldn't come out. I didn't want to take the hub off and punch it out, because I don't have a replacement spindle nut on me (2wd model). The sensor failed and through a light, hence the replacement.
I couldn't punch it out through the back because I didn't want to put bars and pry bars in near the exciter ring and break it.
After two hours of trying to pull it out the back with pliers, and thinking about drilling it out etc, I had a brain wave.
1. Punched it from the back, gently, so the little section poked out near the exciter ring.
2. Use a sharp chisel to cut that protruding section out
3. Repeat
Notes: do it carefully - the sensor is soft and breaks up easily, so you don't need a lot of force and you need to take care not to damage the exciter ring.
You can take about a quarter inch off it at a time, so it took 8 or 9 of these and then it was all good. Cleaned up the hole with a brush attachment on my drill, cleaned the debris away with a fine brush and the old air-blaster, installed new ABS sensor and I'm all good to go.
This might help you.
