So far on my 2020 I've averaged 488 miles in between regens. If I didn't have my torque pro app running full time I'd have a hard time telling if the truck was in regen.
Yeah I wish the truck would have an indicator or something. The only thing I noticed was a slight smell.
I think ford did it right by not including an indicator. There are a lot of people that don’t fully understand the regen process and would be hitting up the service departments with ridiculous made up problems. Some times ignorance is bliss.
In -30C weather, you can tell if you’re in a regen by the white fog cloud spewing from the exhaust pipe while driving down the highway. Fuel mileage screen can give you a hint as well but I know you know that. (Putting it out there for those that don’t know)
1,000 miles on mine and just had a regen. I am not sure how many I have had prior. Only reason I knew this time was enabling the DPF%. This allowed me to see the regen happening and I was able to keep driving. Makes me wonder how many I interrupted prior.
I always run with my instant mpg screen on the dash and the only way I’ve noticed regens through 2300 miles is the 50% drop in mpg while it’s happening. Much tougher to figure out than my 2016.
It's been my experience that unless running a bluetooth OBD-II reader, the only way to confidently know if the truck is in regen, is to monitor the "Instant MPG". If in regen, the instant MPG will drop significantly.

Rather than enabling the DPF% screen and watching it go down? Im pretty confident that when that percent is dtopping, its in regen.

Very true. When I get a chance, i am going to ask the dealer to turn that screen on for me. Not apprehensive to turn it on myself, just don't trust the warranty side of Ford jumping in to the mix should I need to take the truck in for anything. I would love to have the DPF % screen active, but for now, I rely on the Instant MPG screen.
