hubcap popper

Been dreading this but I've got to take off the beanies and don't want to use a screw driver to pop em. Anyone use anything that wont scratch paint?

Stick a credit card between the cap and wheel then use a screwdriver.

I've used a putty knife without damaging anything a number of times. Use a screwdriver between the knife and the hub cap as needed.

I have used a plastic body filler spreader to protect the rim from the screwdriver.

What I ended up using is a seml hard plastic blade used to install windshields with, Came from CR Laurance glass supply. Looks like a double ended butter knife so cut it in the middle and used a rubber mallet to tap it in. Worked great, Now looking at putting them back on without denting the cap.

Harbor Frieght sells a kit of about 5 plastic tools for this purpose. Works well.

My windshield tool works great to take them off and I put them back on by hand with light tapping the edges. Thanks all.
