Many of you Escape owners may have received this recall notice from Ford Motor Company. Due to Covid19 I was unable to get my 2017 Escape with only 23,900 miles on it to the dealer until yesterday. The recall was to reprogram the power train module with a new software calibration to improve engine cooling and reduce the potential for coolant intrusion into the cylinders. I don't drive my Escape during the winter so I figured I was okay until Covid19 had passed. About three days ago the service engine light came on, so covid or no covid I felt I needed to get it to the dealer. Sure enough, coolant intrusion had occurred and now I have to have my engine rebuilt. Parts have been ordered and they will provide a loaner vehicle until the car is repaired (about two days). The only good news is all this will be covered under warranty.

After the parts came in, the dealer had my car for two days. However, they brought it back to me without a functioning A/C and the engine light still lit. Their reason was the loaner car I was driving had been sold and they needed it back pronto. About three days later they picked up my Escape for the second time to re-charge the A/C and replace a sensor that had gone bad due to the leaking coolant. This time they had it one day only and left me another loaner (2020 F-150 Pickup) to drive. It seems to be running fine now and I was able to get the car re-inspected for emissions failure.

Well after reading the top link I am happy to say mine is a 2012.
BTW Guess who gets to do head gaskets on a 6.0L. The thing that has me a bit worried is the PO was a turkey and I have a feeling
I am going to find 3M disk marks on the block. The PO had done studs. I keep finding things that were monkeyed with. He used blue
Loctite on the oil rail bolts and the wrong size Torx bit and even went as far to over torque them and upset the heads.
