Pleasant Dealership Experience

Today I decided enough was enough. Took my truck in to get the last few steps of the water pump replacement done by the pros.

I have had good experiences with this dealer, and in particular one service writer named Peter. Last time I was in (about 3 years ago) my F150 was in and plagued with problems. Peter was able to convince Ford to foot a $4000 repair bill on a "maybe caused by this" recall. I ended up paying about $1000 in other repairs that he couldnt get covered. In this time Ford provided a rental truck for me for free. So that was a good experience.

Today I walk in and am approached by a man as I drive in the service bay. I ask if Peter is in and he says he is and points me to his office. I walk in and see him sitting there. He stands up, greets me BY NAME and shakes my hand. How he remembered me after 3 years, I do not know.

Now, the service they preformed today was not extensive. Just a coolant flush and fill. $164 out the door, but the quality of service is what impressed me. For $164 I got a complete flush using VC9 ($30/qt) a complete refill using Ford Premium Gold, a complimentary car wash, and a cup of coffee while I watched "The Price is Right" on their TV.

I had no intention of letting them do the service when I walked in today. I simply went to pick up the flushing agent VC9. But while I was waiting for the parts guy to return with the bottles, I decided, what the heck. So I walked back over to Peter and told him to sign me up. He asked if I wanted to wait so I asked how long. He estimated 1.5 hours, and I said "well sure. But I've gotta take my dog home." Peter looks out at my truck, then back at me and says "He can wait inside with you if you want." So we did just that.

A little while later I get my truck back, feels golden (perhaps its the coolant) and I couldnt be happier. $160 is less than what I would pay for the VC9 and all new ELC coolant anyway.

Just wanted to share that there are good dealers out there and I am lucky to have one here locally.

Before going to this dealer, I went to another local dealer, who I have only been to once before, and hated. Why I went back today, I have no idea. It was just as bad.

Glad everything went well for you. Sounds like you were V.I.P there.

From what I've heard on here, usually it's the other way around with these "stealerships."

Very few folk post messages about good dealer experiences. Most every post is negative - human nature perhaps.

Each time I brought my truck to the dealer for service I have had excellent, professional service. Perhaps we should mention stuff like this more often.
