Steering column install experts please help
More pics of both, take off the rag joint on the old one, take measurements of both. You will need to install the new one and take more measurements to get the length of rod and joints needed to connect column to gear. I'm sure someone makes a conversion link that could work or you will have to have one made to length with the different ends. I highly doubt you will find what you need at the local auto parts store. Personally, ditching the rag joint for u joints would be the way to go as longevity is there.
If someone you know is a highly capable fab genius, there is some cutting, welding and fab work that could be done with them both to make the new one fit and work like the old. Keep in mind this is your steering system so move forward with this idea at your own risk. In the cheap dirt racing world, shafts have been cut from one column and welded onto the next to get steering components to work. Good deep welds are essential to minimize risk though. Cheap shallow welds will put you into a wall or off a cliff.
