Yeah my truck is a '19 and my line connection doesn't look like that at all. The Motorcraft replacement filter I installed in September of 2023 also didn't come with those clips.
The clip is a one time install so myself and I'm sure plenty of others have extras lying around from the FD-4625-AA filter sets. I would suggest putting one on if yours doesn't have it.
The 4625-AA filter sets might still be available through some sources but Ford has superceded it to the 4641 without the clip. That might be the filter set you installed. Same filters just no clip.
Fixed it 5/16 hose. Pulled out the transmission dipstick and rubbed around on the inside and everything slid right on. Still going to put on the aluminum one when it comes in Saturday. But at least I have something to move my truck around in the meantime.
The beauty of truck camping I suppose as that you don't need to make reservations. So I won't be late getting there... As long as I get there the next couple weeks lol.
Update - the hose and clamp method lasted from NC to Texas before failing. I suspect the hose wasn't fuel iine, just whatever 5/16 hose they had. I installed the Aluminum one that I bought online and it has held up so far so good. We're in California now and still going with no issues.
