My 2019 6.7 has a fairly large PCV filter, which the owner's manual shows how to take apart and change the internal filters, but nowhere (at least that I could find) tells about how often it should be checked or replaced. Anyone know?
There is a good thread on this in the 6.7 section. I believe it was either 75,000 or 100,000 miles. Some have the replaceable internal filter, & some you have to replace the whole thing. Sorry I don't have the link, but check the 6.7 section under CCV filter
I found the thread in the 6.7 section and have now read the entire lengthy thread. There’s much confusion over sealed and serviceable filters and what years have what, but no one definitely answers the original question, which was my question: when do you know to change it? With the horror tales that appear there about gummed up engines and turbos, you would think there would be some specific advice from Ford as to a filter change interval. Does anyone have an actual reference to such a maintenance requirement. I’m probably overlooking it in the owners manual, but no one in the other thread in the 6.7 forum found it either. I really have to believe that something that appears to be critical maintenance has to be in the owners manual and I’m just overlooking it.
Well, to continue the saga after all. I looked at the place in the owners manual you point out, and it reads just like the one posted above but states: “Dual rear wheel and incomplete chassis configurations only.” Mine is neither; it is a SRW F350. So does Ford want us to simply surmise that the sealed unit needs replacing at the same interval even though their manual clearly says change “only” on the unsealed, replaceable CCV filter boxes? It just seems weird that something seemingly so critical has no maintenance interval listed. I’ll sleep alright tonight and will change it at at least 100,000 miles, but it still seems strange.
I think they made the CCV filter unserviceable on the 2020s. Maybe on the 19s as well. On my 18, you can see the bolts holding the unit together so it’s serviceable. I haven’t looked on the 19s or 20s. I have changed the CCV filter in all my past diesels at the 100,000km mark. I use my truck as a work truck which sees a lot of idling, arctic weather and pulling. It’s a SRW.
The ford service schedule is not well described in the owners manual. All the Rams I have owned before had way more clarification.
“If equipped”—if yours is not serviceable, don’t service it. I don’t think there’s a filter in the sealed ones. Just a system of baffles, although I haven’t taken it apart.

Im not sure what’s in the non serviceable ones. I thought the entire housing would be changed out but maybe not. Mines serviceable so I haven’t had to research the non serviceable units.
