I have a 2010 Ford F250 Super Duty. The truck has 208K miles and lives in central Texas (no rust or corrosion but plenty of heat).
Occasionally the fuel gauge drops to empty and the warning light comes on. All of the other gauges read correctly. If I stop and turn the truck off and then restart it, all is well.
I have checked all visible connections from the fuel tank to the fire wall with no luck.
This only happens once every couple of months. Not a problem for me but my wife gets nervous about it.
Has anyone else experienced this? What should I try?
Check the connector for the fuel pump for any crud/crusties inside the connector. Sounds like you might have high resistance, which is why the off/on resolves it for a short time.
