I have this on my 2012, and I received the same notification, I'm taking my truck in to the dealership for service on the AC system tomorrow, when I do, I'll ask them about this, and if there's any plans for a replacement for it.

I'm guessing it's the Viper SmartStart. And Viper doesn't appear to allow self-installs. "Professional installation required".. ugh..... but you can buy on Amazon and Crutchfield.. so maybe.

Would be nice if they would just offer a 4g compatible module. I'll pay for the upgrade.

Ugh! Even worse, the idea of some hack installed messing around on the truck scares the ***** out of me. I can 100% install it myself, maybe I'll look into it via crutchfield. They've got excellent service and techs since they install as well. I 100% agree, I would pay good money for a 4G module. Too bad, really. I guess at least I'll still be able to start via my keyfob...

Edit: just browsed crutchfield and the Smart Start system is an add-on for Viper remote start systems - all of which require you to use the proprietary Viper remotes, NOT the OEM fobs. So here we are back at square one. Again...WHY didn't I buy a truck with factory remote start? Or at least a 2018 with FordPass? Ugh!!!

It is a professional install. It uses LTE. It does NOT use a proprietary fob. Just the Ford fob and the viper app. If you’re interested I’d ask a local authorized dealer. The same folks who installed my audio frog system installed this. The audio was a huge install. This was easy 1-hour.

You guys have the part numbers for the regular key fob remote start? I have the VSS and RSM for the remote accessory app, guessing I just need to replace the RSM with the non cellular model?

Yup, here's the part # for the new VSS/RSM combo unit as per Kevin Kriss from Fairway Ford. I have one inbound - I'll have to decide when to swap it out. Don't really want to wait until January 1, 2021 to do it...we'll see.

I called my local Viper preferred dealer to talk about a system and he actually suggest a Compustar system - it's solely a remote start system that has LTE service and is a plug and play system for Ford via a T-Harness. Installed the system costs about $500 and allows start/stop/lock/unlock via an iPhone App(cost $4/month I'm told) and still allows use of OEM fobs for remote starting and other functions. Seems like a good No-Cut option. I think I'll look into it.

Following. I, too, will miss this functionality. I put it in right after I got the truck and was afraid when I bought it that it wouldn’t be supported much longer.

I got mine yesterday. Likely won't install it for a while since Remote Access doesn't expire until the end of the year so I have no reason to install right awayI also may end up going with the Compustar system, so it's possible I won't even use it. Kevin @fairway says it will work, and when I ordered it I included my VIN, and it all checked out. So I would trust that it works.

I’d be interested in more information on the viper solution as well.

It works on 2018 Lariat Super Duty

I called Kevin at Fairway a few weeks ago and ordered the new OEM part. Had my local Ford dealer do the install. Works great, and I didn’t need to upgrade my key fob!

That only provides key fob remote start though, correct? Not cell phone based?
