High idle?

High idle?
Hello FTE: So excited to find this site and hopefully get some insight into my recent issues. I have searched the forums and couldn't find anything specific to what i have going on. My truck is a 2012 F-250 220K miles,6.2L, Gas. It has a high idle when driving. Doesn't matter if it is cold or warm. The engine RPM's starting out almost immediately will jump up to 2000 rpm. I have to hold back on the gas, when driving so it doesn't go too high. Also when driving at higher speeds and i want to accelerate, even conservatively, it will down shift into a lower gear and again the RPM's spike up. It is almost as if there is a choke that is stuck or similar to pulling a heavy load. Anyone have any thoughts on what may be the issue?
