Hey guys I'm looking to install carpet in my 63 F100. Rock auto has one but the picture dosen't look the same, has anyone purchased carpet from rock auto?
Thanks James
I swapped 65 seat bench with 87 Lariat and decided to go with a shop to install the carpet and seats. The shop also had an account with SMS and gave me their discount with the installation. This was several years ago but I was quite pleased with their customer support, perhaps a lot has changed since then?
The only issue I had was the shop applied the carpet adhesive to approx. 4" above the firewall mat which was fine until I had to remove the 4 speed transmission, aint going to happen w/out removing, or pulling back the carpet. I subsequently set the carpet under the firewall mat secured the sides under the step plates which kept the carpet from shifting?
I used a carpet kit from ACC, bought via eBay. It was slightly less expensive than buying the same kit through LMC. It is good quality, fit well, a good price. My truck is a 66, yours a 63, so yours is a bit different I think, but I bet your experience would be similar.Sometimes they’ll use stock or generic photos that do not show the differences year to year.
yeah the rock auto picture shows the edge of the carpet on driver and passenger side straight from front to back on the 63 you open the door and there's a step to get in truck. I was thinking the picture was generic just wanted to be sure before I order it.
Thanks for the help
I purchased ACC for my '62 and a test fit shows some minor trimming will be required. Copper State Components offers some well made billet aluminum sill plates.
I bought a carpet from Rock Auto for my 65. The color was not quite right, once opened box at home. Sometimes computer screens are off a tint or two. Rock auto accepted a return and shipped another. No hassles. It fit good with minor trimming and hole cutting for seat bolts and shifter.
After installation, it settled down even smoother in a few weeks. Nice ACC carpet.
