Question Bent carburetor?

This is a 1977 F-250 351, I know nothing about carbs but just looking at it I can see the choke valve is bent, does anyone see any big problems with that? The truck is running really rough right now and won't stay running if I let off the gas. I'm going to replace the points and distributor cap and spark plugs but I was worried about the way the carb looked. Also, should I be able to move that plate when the truck is off? This is the position it was in and it seemed locked there. Thanks for your help!

That's your choke and yes it's bent. if it's stuck that's the cause of your poor running conditions.

Whatever you do you have to get it moving properly by straightening it , after that you should be able to adjust it and get by fine.

I should be able to move it with my finger when the engine isn't running?

Unless someone has changed your distributor there should not be any points to replace. Its electronic. Just the cap and rotor button.

All good guys, I pulled the choke plate and straightened it and the damn thing started right up and runs great. No idea how that happened!

I think I did this before.

If I scroll down on a thread there is another thread below, that is related, so the bottom reply is not a reply to the viewing thread, but a reply to the related thread....

Yep, I've almost replied to the wrong thread a couple of times for that reason. I think I caught it first, but I don't know for sure!

Hmm, I wonder if that's where the two missing replies went? A couple of months ago I list two replies that I was certain I'd made and hit REPLY on. But the next time I looked, no reply from me to the question.
I bet that's what happened. Thanks for bringing it up.
